We're buying a house!

This is our new house! Isn't it pretty. We think so. It is 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms. The colors are brown and tanish colors. The fixtures are all antique bronze. We thought that would look kind of funny, but when we saw it we absolutly loved it! We should be closing by the end of the month. Here are some more pictures of our house. There are more pictures on our other blog too.

This is a picture of the kitchen. The cabinets are knotty alder. The appliances are black.

This is a picture looking down the stair case.

This is the ceiling fan in the master bedroom.

Apparently Tyson really likes the toilet paper holder because he had to take a picture of it! Ü

Andrew's Parent-Teacher Conference

On Friday, Bryan and I we were able to attend Andrew's parent-teacher conference. After talking to Ms. Bell about Andrew's progress, we rotated to three stations around his classroom where Andrew demonstrated his skills in Math, Reading, and Writing. I was proud as can be sitting there watching! It is amazing, as a parent, to watch his abilities grow! We are just so proud of Andrew and how well he is doing in school!

Prayer's Are Answered

Conference is coming up on April 5th and 6th. I always think about something that happened to me when I was Danny's age, I was around 20 years old. I was going to a Singles Ward with my aunt Merrie. One Family Night before conference our "FHE Dad" talked to us about getting answers to questions, or problems that we were having by listening to conference. He promised us that if we would pray about our problem or question and then watch all of the sessions of conference, someone would answer our question. So I thought OK, I have a question, I will give it a try. I prayed about my question, a lot, not just once before the Saturday morning session. But I really prayed and asked Heavenly Father to answer my question during conference. Then I watched conference, all of the sessions. Sure enough someone gave a talk that answered my question. It worked!!!!
I have given this advise to many youth groups through the years, and I know that some have received answers just as I did.
So I wanted to pass this along to all of you. But, I wanted a general authority to say the same thing.
I went searching through LDS.org and I found what I was looking for.
In the New Era, Mar 2006, page 40, was this short article "General Conference Worksheet: Listening for Answers", by Rick Wadsworth.

Here is the article.

------------------------------------------------------

At the start of general conference a few years ago, President Gordon B. Hinckley promised several blessings to those who listen to conference:

"I invite you to listen, listen if you will by the power of the Spirit, to the speakers who will address you today and tomorrow as well as this evening. If you will do so, I do not hesitate to promise that you will be uplifted, your resolution to do what is right will be stronger, you will find solutions to your problems and your needs, and you will be led to thank the Lord for what you have heard" ("Listen by the Power of the Spirit," Ensign, Nov. 1996, 4).

Put the prophet’s promise to the test as you fill out this general conference worksheet.

Pre-conference Checklist:
I have thought and prayed about questions I have, and I will listen for answers during conference.

I have prayed for the general conference speakers.

I will get a good night’s sleep so I can stay awake and attentive during conference.

I have a notebook and pen ready so I can take notes during conference.

What I Learned During General Conference

  • The talk(s) that meant the most to me during the Saturday sessions of conference was/were by:

  • I enjoyed the talk(s) because:

  • The talk(s) that meant the most to me during the Sunday sessions of conference was/were by:

  • I enjoyed the talk(s) because:

  • The prophet counseled Church members to:

  • This specific counsel was given to the youth of the Church:

  • The answers I received from listening and pondering during general conference are:

  • After listening to general conference, I want to become better in the following ways, or I was prompted to do the following:

  • The main themes of General Conference are:

-------------------------------------------------------------

So, start thinking and praying. Heavenly Father knows each of us and He has a plan for each of us. He wants us to be happy, He wants to give us the answers that we need. Go to Him in prayer and supplication, study your question, make decisions, ask for a confirmation, pray for the speakers at conference, and finally listen intently to all of the sessions of conference. Look for your answers, they will be there, I promise, and President Hinckley has made you this promise too.

my friends

I first met Noah at church and I met him in my class and we said "hi" to each other. He likes science and he likes collecting crystals. I also saw Noah at preschool, and the preschool was at his house. We also go to the same kindergarten. We have a good time together and we're very nice to each other. We play at the same learning station. Noah had a scientist birthday party. His dad was a scientist and we saw him make things - he put some water in something and he put some other stuff in, and it made it blast into the air.
I first met Lukas at school. He likes Noah and me. We usually play at the same learning station too. He had a Ninja Turtle birthday party and he had Ninja Turtle masks for us to wear. We looked for clues to do something, but I don't exactly remember. It was to see who had the most, I think. I invited him to my birthday party. We were jumping on all the mats, then we balanced on some wood. Then we were trying to get through the lasers without getting touched five times by the lasers.

The 10k.....

As all of you well know, I am not a runner. But even surprising to me I told David I would run a 10k with him. So on Thursday, February 18th we decided to compete in the 10k which took place on Saturday, March 1st. Now that is 2 days to "train" for a race that is 6.2 miles since I had only been to the gym twice this year, (both times happened to be Tuesday and Thursday of that same week) So needless to say, I was (and still am not) in shape to run 6.2 miles. For the next two days both David and I wondered what we had gotten ourselves into, knowing that we were for sure going to die from the experience. I would get online at work and type in addresses on dex knows to see how far 6.2 miles was and found out that from our house to my work was 7.6 miles and I thought "Wow thats nothing! My work isn't THAT far away..." Boy was I wrong.

So 7 o'clock on Saturday morning we were up and headed to the Dee Event Center in Ogden praying that we would live through the tramatic event that was ahead of us. We got to the ice sheet and I decided I didnt want to carry my whole set of keys, so I just took off the key pad and hid the rest of they keys in my car thinking that would be more simple. So we headed up to get our numbers and shirts, walking through a crowd of people stretching and looking like they knew exactly what they were doing, I knew this was going to be an interesting experience. I stepped up to the table and said my name and the lady looked through the box and found my little packet of goodies that I wasn't sure what exactly to do with. Then she said "I don't think we have any of the small shirts left, is this the only race you are going to be doing?" and of course the answer was "Yes." So she thought for a second and looked behind her grabbing a light, black jacket and handed it to me. This jacket was different from what David had received and we noticed that there were a few other people in these jackets and we realized that those who did multiple races received these, so now I looked like I had to know what I was doing. So we went out to an open space and I started to stretch because well, thats what everyone seemed to be doing. We also noticed that everyone had a little orange square attacted to the shoe laces and we realized that we also had a little orange square in our "packet o' goodies" so we decided thats what we needed to do.

Slowly it got closer and closer to being 8 so we decided we should take our extra stuff back out to the car, I reached into my pocket for the keypad that I had thought was so smart to just bring it, and it wasn't there. David and I searched the area and I retraced our steps and I couldn't find it. Someone noticed that we were looking for something and he started helping us, I told him it was just the keypad because I didnt want to carry the whole set of keys and he said that now it would be harder to find as just the small keypad. So my smart idea wasnt so smart after all. Luckily the keypad was found and David took the extra stuff out to the car and decided to hide the keypad in my wheel well just so we didn't lose it on the route.

Then someone got on a loud speaker letting us know that we needed to head over to the starting line and that the race was about to start. As we got to the starting line David and I got our iPods ready for the long haul with our "workout music". The horn sounded and the race began. We started running and about 5 minutes into the race I was tired and slowed down telling David to keep going and I'd see him later. Everyone passed me and eventually I thought i HAD to be in last place. I realized this was going to just be a nice walk to go on, it wasnt too cold and everything looked so pretty. I got to about 2.5 miles and people began passing me again so I must not have been in last place, then the pacer came. Now some of you might not know what the pacers job is, her job is to volunteer to be the last person in the race and make sure everyone was okay as she went along. So her and I walked together the rest of the race. We talked about a lot of things, I found out she is also a cosmetologist (imagine that) and that she is a masseuse. We talked about so much from the church to how she met her husband to racing.

Well once we got to mile 5 we met up with 2 other women and began talking with them and we got closer and closer to the Dee Events Center. Finally it was in view and I began running again. As I rounded the corner into the parking lot I saw David walking ahead of me over by the end of the race, and he turned in time to watch me finish the race and cross the finish line in front of the other 2 women we had met up with, I WASN'T LAST AND WE LIVED! Come to find out David had been finished for about 30 minutes and had actually headed back up the race to find me and he got to the police officer who was suppose to be at the end of the race (and he was a ways in front of us) and he said that there was noone else behind him. So David headed back thinking maybe he had missed me, or I had come back early (which was very likely). But he still got to see me finish.

David finished 203 at 56:46.6 minutes and I finished 371 at 1:28:48.2, there were 373 people in the race. We are very glad that we didn't die and that we both actually finished.

I had the pacer that I became friends with take this picture of us after the race. This was a great experience and I am glad that I did it, next time I'll have to train better.
